Additional COVID test facility in Coupar Angus hotel parking lot
An additional community testing site for people not showing symptoms of COVID-19 has been set up in the parking lot of a Perthshire hotel.
Starting yesterday (May 13), the mobile test van will be heading to the Red House Hotel in Coupar Angus every Thursday for the next six weeks.
The additional mobile test van will be available for anyone living or working in the Coupar Angus area to get tested.
The test site will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. without an appointment.
However, to speed up the process, residents can book in advance and pre-register their details by calling 119.
Residents of Tayside who do not have any of the three symptoms of COVID – a new cough, temperature, loss or continued change in taste or smell – are encouraged to get tested at one of Tayside’s sites.
Residents have been able to collect self-administered PCR tests on mobile test vans on a weekly basis from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. since April 12.
On Mondays the vans are located at the Pitlochry Library and on Tuesdays at the Aberfeldy Community Fire Station.
On Wednesdays the service is at Atholl Street car park in Dunkeld and on Thursdays at Davie Park in Blairgowrie.
Auchterarder Fire Station is the place on Fridays and Kinross Fire Station on Saturdays.
The vans end the week’s Fair Town tour at the Perth Community Fire Hall on Sunday.
An NHS spokesperson Tayside said: ‘The mobile test units are safe and secure, with strict hygiene measures in place.
“Staff on site will support people through the testing process which involves self-administration of a swab test.
“Full instructions will be provided.
“Testing is quick and easy, with results being communicated to people via text message 24 to 48 hours after testing.
“Anyone who receives a positive PCR test result will be asked to self-isolate.
“Dedicated support is available for anyone who needs self-isolation, including food packages and financial support.
“Further advice and information on the support available for people who need to self-isolate can be found at www.nhsinform.scot or www.taysidecares.co.uk”
Anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 should book a test in the usual way via nhsinform.scot or by calling 0800 028 2816.
