Aldi has pulled its popular Whoppers Chocolate from its shelves after a number of undeclared allergens were discovered in the ingredients.
The discount supermarket chain recalls the 141g chocolate because the ingredients for milk, wheat, barley, peanuts and tree nuts are not marked on the product.
The issue is due to a labeling issue that meant these allergens were not declared on products, which were sold in ACT’s Aldi stores and some stores in New South Wales.
“Any consumer who has an allergy or intolerance to milk, wheat, barley, peanuts and tree nuts may have a reaction if the product is consumed,” Food Standards Australia and New Zealand said.
“Consumers who have an allergy or intolerance as stated above should not consume this product. “
Aldi said customers should return their Whoppers chocolate to “place of purchase” for a full cash refund.
“We apologize for any inconvenience,” Aldi said in a Facebook post.
“ALDI takes product quality and safety seriously.
