Bristol Airport issues A38 road closure warning affecting car park users

Bristol Airport has issued a warning to customers visiting its car parks within the next two weeks.

The site announced on Twitter that the airport will be accessible via the A38 southbound from the direction of Bristol only due to maintenance work nearby on the busy A road.

The works will close the A38 between Ashley Lane and New Road from Sunday May 22 to Wednesday June 1, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Bristol Airport said: “The A38 south of Bristol Airport (between Ashley Lane and New Road) will be closed for maintenance by NSC [North Somerset Council] from May 22 to June 1 between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.

“Access to Bristol Airport and Silver Zone car park will be via the A38 southbound from Bristol direction only.”

It comes as passengers arriving from Bristol Airport faced hours-long queues, with some people saying they missed their flights as a result. The lockdowns come as the airport – and airlines – grapple with IT issues and chronic staff shortages that have caused huge delays.
