The order was put in place by Redcar and Cleveland Council after numerous incidents, including speeding and reckless driving, intimidation, littering and urination in public, were reported.
“There are times of the day when Majuba’s parking lot doesn’t feel like a safe place,” said Julie Craig, cabinet member for highways, neighborhoods and transportation.
“This cannot – and will not be – allowed to continue. Not only do we want all residents and visitors to feel safe and enjoy the area, we also want those who participate in such activities to realize that they can sometimes be a danger to themselves. whether they are behind the wheel, a passenger or one of those who congregate where these activities take place. “
Inspector Neil Deluce of the Neighborhood Police Team added: “We have seen an increase in calls about antisocial behavior at this location.
“This order will act as a deterrent alongside other police powers. Officers will continue to patrol the area and take action against those who use the parking lot inappropriately.”
