Celebrate LGBTQ + Pride Month with IHG Hotels & Resorts
We are overflowing with PRIDE! It’s officially LGBTQ + Pride Month, so let your rainbow flags fly and celebrate with parades, festivals and marches across the world (both virtually and in person).
New York pride in New York
Where it all began. Riots at New York’s Stonewall Inn in 1969 marked a turning point in the fight for LGBTQ + rights following a police raid on a Christopher Street gay bar in Greenwich Village. This event marked the beginning of the modern gay rights movement and led to protests not only in New York City, but in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Today, New York City is home to one of the largest pride parades in the world. While several of this year’s events will be presented in a virtual format, along with in-person items TBD, key events include the NYC Pride March, PrideFest and Pride Island on June 27.
Where to stay: To get closer to the action, make a reservation at the Kimpton Hotel Eventi – located in the heart of Chelsea – and the hotel will donate $ 10 per night to The Trevor Project (oh, and guests also get 15% off discount on the best flexible rates)! Or, book a stay at voco The Franklin and be on the doorstep of Central Park, a popular area long associated with the LGBTQ + community (and where the very first Gay Pride March ended). While several events are virtual this year, New York’s must-see attractions for all pride lovers are the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art – one of the only LGBTQ + history and culture museums in the world – showcasing works by famous art from LGBTQ + artists unknown to Andy Warhol – and popular bars Cubbyhole and Marie’s Crisis.
The pride of San Francisco in California
Known for its contribution to bringing gay culture to the attention of the general public, San Francisco Pride is one of the oldest and largest LGBTQ + parades in the world. As the San Francisco Pride suspends its popular celebration at the Civic Center and Parade on Market Street this year, LGBTQ + communities will once again be able to come together for limited in-person events throughout the month of June, such as: Pride Expo , Pride Movie Night at Oracle Park and Black Liberation Event with AAACC.
Where to stay: Explore the city’s culture and charm with a luxury stay at the InterContinental San Francisco and have an exceptional dining experience at the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant and bar 888. In addition to the parade, Madrid Orgullo has other must-see events throughout the month of June, such as concerts, Mr. Gay Pride España and the infamous high heel race.
Where to stay: Located in the heart of Madrid’s eclectic Moncloa-Argüelles district, the Indigo Madrid Princesa hotel is a short walk from the metro which can transport guests to this year’s festivities in less than 15 minutes. The annual walk begins at the famous “Angel of Independence” monument and continues downtown via Paseo de la Reforma Avenue, until it reaches the heart of the city known as Zocalo. A concert and public celebrations then take place until late in the evening. While this year’s walk will take place virtually, there are several gay-friendly neighborhoods to explore with bustling cafes, beautiful architecture, art galleries, and nightlife.

It’s a short walk from Zona Rosa, Mexico City’s gay-friendly neighborhood filled with bars and clubs that host events throughout Pride.
