Work is underway to install 130 marked parking spaces for commuters on the Werribee train.
The new parking lot, which will be equipped with CCTV cameras and lighting, will be located south of the tracks and commuters will be able to enter and exit via Kelly Street and Griffith Street.
The parks are being installed as part of the state government’s commuter parking program, following the removal of the Cherry Street and Werribee Street crossings.
A road bridge connecting Princes Road and Tarneit Road was built as part of the Cherry Street level crossing removal project.
Project manager Tony Hedley said permanent lighting was being installed on the new road bridge,
“It will be finished by mid-year at the latest, but we are working to get the new lights on sooner if we can,” he said.
Construction crews also installed concrete beams for a new 1.2-kilometer highway bridge, which is being built as part of the Old Geelong Road crossing removal project.
Stairs and elevator shafts were also installed for a new pedestrian overpass.
The Old Geelong Road crossing removal project is expected to be completed in 2022.
