Delhi Metro builds first underground car park integrated with Gray Line Dhansa bus station
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is building its very first integrated underground car park on Gray Line! Dhansa Bus Stand metro station, which is located in the Dwarka-Najafgarh-Dhansa Bus Stand corridor, will be the very first underground Delhi metro station to have an entire basement dedicated to parking vehicles. According to DMRC, the parking space will be integrated with the area of the main station where vehicle users / drivers can park their cars as well as their two-wheelers and then proceed directly to the lobby of the metro station using elevators and escalators. Designed as a four-level underground structure, the station has a platform at the bottom (at a depth of about 18 meters) followed by the hall and then a whole floor for parking vehicles above with the level roof top (ground floor level).
The car park is equipped with several facilities such as elevators, entry and exit ramps, escalators, stairs, etc. DMRC further stated that the facility will have parking space for approximately 110 cars as well as 185 two-wheelers. In the future, real estate development activities would be planned on the ground floor of the metro station, he said. In the center of the car park there will be a passenger elevator. In addition, there will be two stairways as well as two escalators each which will directly connect the car park to the unpaid area of the lobby below. During office hours, when passengers try to board the train as early as possible, the location of the parking space will be a major advantage as it is located close to the hall.
Since no other Delhi Metro metro station has such a facility, the new parking lot can be considered a major design-based improvement, DMRC said. Currently there is underground parking at Hindon River Tube Station, although it is an elevated station. The New Delhi Airport Line station has multi-level parking above the metro station. As the areas adjacent to the station are extremely congested with very limited space for vehicle parking, the new facility will be of great benefit to local residents. There will be ramps on both sides of the parking space for vehicle entry and exit. In addition, there will be two entry / exit facilities that will connect the parking lot to both the platform below and the surface above.
