Dumbarton fire: Police officers investigate deliberate car fire
Investigations are continuing after a deliberate fire caused damage to vehicles in a West Dunbartonshire Council car park.
The deliberate fire started around 12:45 am yesterday (Monday) with firefighters on site to extinguish the flames.
The council is cooperating with police regarding the incident which occurred in a parking lot at council offices in Bridge Street, Dumbarton.
A Scottish Police spokesperson said: ‘Police received a report of three cars on fire in a Bridge Street car park in Dumbarton at around 12:45 am on Monday 19 July.
“The fires were put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and no one was injured.
“The fires are being treated as voluntary and investigations are underway. “
A West Dunbartonshire Council spokeswoman said: “We are aware of the incident and the Scottish Police are investigating and supporting them in their investigations.”
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service added: ‘We were alerted at 12.36am on Monday 19th July of reports of a car on fire in Bridge Street, Dumbarton.
“Operations control mobilized a device and the firefighters extinguished the fire which had spread to another vehicle.
“There were no casualties and no crew were reported after making sure the area was secure.”
