With the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions in some parts of the world, many are looking to book their next vacation. For Harry potter fans, that means finding the best themed places to stay. If you’re one of those travelers, we’ve got a few guest house recommendations for you. But first, in the news, there is an Airbnb that might not be available to future travelers due to its presence in the housing market.
Ground Floor Apartment, Grassmarket, Edinburgh, Scotland
This modern and whimsical Airbnb can be found in Edinburgh city center and is for sale for £ 210,000. Located on West Bow in Grassmarket, this magical getaway has attracted Potter fans with its themed rooms. The living room and dining room are covered in portraits, and a deer-shaped chandelier hangs from the ceiling. The bedroom, which is behind a hidden bookcase, is decorated like a magic wood. A secret cupboard is hidden by a long mirror framed with gold fittings. Other references to the wizarding world can also be found in the apartment, such as a wizard’s chest, old books and a copper bathroom floor.
The kitchen opens to the living room and the windows offer a wonderful view of the Grassmarket. The apartment has a double bedroom, a bathroom and a newly installed boiler for electric heating. Other features include licensed parking and entry into a common stairwell.
It is not known if the next buyer will keep this place as a magical place.
We now turn to the accommodations currently available.
Hagridd’s Hideaway, Chess Valley, Chorleywood, England
Now you can see what it would be like to live like our favorite friendly half-giant in Hagridd’s Hideaway. The adorable magical exterior gives a nod to the interpretation of the House of Hagrid movies. However, the interior vaguely resembles the Gryffindor boys’ dormitory with brown Hogwarts crest bedding.
The place consists of one bedroom, which can accommodate up to five people; a bathroom, which includes a rain shower; and a small kitchenette with fridge, toaster, teapot and microwave.
Hagridd’s Hideaway is just a 15-minute drive from the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter and one hour from London.
Prices start at £ 200 per night and stays can be booked through Host Unusual.
Draiocht Magic House, Boyle, Ireland
MuggleNet has reported on this magical getaway before, but it’s so fantastic it’s worth mentioning again. Draiocht is Gaelic for “magic,” and throughout this Airbnb, there is nothing short of magic here.
The Airbnb can accommodate seven people, with each room designed around the theme of the Hogwarts house. In the rest of the house, there is more wizarding decor, including a cart protruding from the wall and signs for Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley. Brooms line the walls and school flags adorn the stairs.
The half acre garden behind the house includes a tree house for the kids to play. Just a five-minute walk into town, visitors can easily find pubs, restaurants, and shops.
If you are feeling outdoors, Lough Key Forest and Activity Park is just 2.5 miles away. Draiocht’s magical house is also not far from Carrowkeel passage tombs and Keash caves.
Prices are € 149 (£ 170.73) per night per person, with a minimum stay of two nights. Stays can be booked on Airbnb.
