Library announces book clubs and storytelling hours


PROVIDENCE DU NORD – The North Providence Union Free Library, 1810 Mineral Spring Ave., announces the following programs.

• The North Providence Mystery Book Club will meet virtually on Tuesday, May 4 at 6:30 pm This month’s reading will be “Bangkok 8,” by John Burdett. Call Sara at the referral office, 401-353-5600, ext. 809, for more information and the link to join.

• The Tuesday Book Club for Grades 3 and 5 will meet on Tuesday May 11 at 6.30 pm. This month is the reader’s choice: each child will have the chance to talk about a book they have enjoyed reading. Then the group will vote for one of the books to read in June. Pre-packaged snacks are available at registration to enjoy during the program. Registration is required, call 401-353-5600, ext. 5.

• The North Providence Children’s Department will be offering the “Tale” -Gating Story Times on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in May.

“Storytelling” – Storytime at the pool will take place on Tuesdays from May 4 to 25, at 9:30 am. This story hour will meet in the pool parking lot behind the library.

“Tale” – The closing story time at Notte Park will be held Wednesdays May 5-26 at 9:30 am This story time will meet in the lower parking lot of Governor Notte Park. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs, chalk to decorate their own space, blankets, and clothes for the weather. Masks are mandatory for all people over 2 years old. • The North Providence Union Free Library will extend the sale of music and movies to benefit AJ’s military until Saturday May 1 or while supplies last. The sale will take place during regular opening hours. There is a selection of Disney and family movies. DVDs cost $ 2 each or three for $ 5. The library also sells AJ’s army bracelets for $ 5 each. All proceeds will go to the Quetta family.
