Loch Lomond traffic: opening of the new Luss car park this weekend
A brand new, state-of-the-art six-figure parking lot is set to lift its barriers for the first time this weekend in Luss.
The new £ 750,000 car park, built by Sunax Construction and funded by Luss Estates, has been dubbed Luss South Car Park and will accommodate 250 cars, replacing the old north car park which has been neglected in recent years.
The parking lot is also said to alleviate parking problems around the village, and it has taken more than eight years since Luss’s strategic development plan was originally proposed to bring the new parking lot to fruition.
In addition to parking spaces, four electric charging stations are also being developed on the site, with temporary toilets installed and ready before the installation of permanent toilets at a later date.
Patrick Colquhoun, Deputy CEO of Luss Estates said: “We are delighted to open the Luss Sud car park, as well as a beautiful new green village and a safe and pleasant play park in the village.
“Our total investment of £ 750,000 in these developments will be transformational for Luss and instantly and dramatically improve the quality of life for residents and visitors.”

Dave Pretswell of the Luss and Arden Community Council commented: “Our community faces enormous challenges with the increasing number of visitors wishing to come to Luss and unless passenger cars are excluded from the residential heart of the village, with its narrow streets and Victorian infrastructure, then, both the quality of life for residents and the “visitor experience” can only continue to deteriorate.
“This new Luss Estates car park is an essential part of a larger community-sponsored traffic management initiative for the village of Luss, which has been in detailed preparation since 2016 and before and is designed to achieve this goal of removing traffic. non-residential traffic in the village of Luss. in the heart of the village.
