Nashville content creator ‘Funsize Velen’ exceeds double blood alcohol limit – Velen Lemus arrested – Scoop: Nashville

Velen Lemus, 24, who is a Nasvhille-area content creator for various platforms including her character “Funsize Velen,” was held in Metro Nashville Jail earlier this month on charges of driving with Impaired. Police said they were accelerating and driving erratically, and eventually ran a red light in Goodlettsville, where a traffic check was carried out. She told police she was on her way home to Ashland City, but was not sure where she was or the correct way to get to her destination. She performed poorly on field sobriety tests and reached a blood alcohol level of 0.163 on the breathalyzer test, more than double the legal limit in Tennessee. Officers also discovered that she had already had a DUI in 2019 in Rutherford County and that she must have an alcohol ignition interlock device on her vehicle, which she did not have. She has been charged with impaired driving 2nd offense and is free on bail.

COMPLAINT:
2021-0633437
ARREST WARRANT / AFFIDAVIT:
On December 13, 2021, I was about to exit the parking lot at 411 S Main St. I observed a red Nissan Altima traveling southbound on S Main at a very high speed. I parked behind the vehicle and tried to catch up with it. I observed that the vehicle was failing to keep its lane and was going through the red light at S Main St and Long Hollow Pike.

I observed the vehicle deviate between the lanes while continuing at high speed on N Main Street. I caught up with the vehicle at 667 N Main Street and brought traffic to a stop. I made a passenger side approach and contacted the driver, Velen Lemus. Due to the way Lemus was driving, I asked him to get out of the vehicle.

Lemus said she was just trying to get home to Ashland City. I asked her how she was going to get to Ashland City. She said she was going to go on the 24th or the 40th. Lemus couldn’t tell me where she was. I smelled the smell of alcoholic drinks coming from his person. I asked Lemus to perform field sobriety tests. During HGN, I observed all six clues as well as vertical nystagmus. Lemus’ eyes were watery and bloodshot. Lemus took a wrong turn and took the wrong number of steps on the walk and the turn.

Lemus was arrested for drunk driving. I read Lemus’ implied consent and Lemus consented to a breathalyzer test. I took her to the police department for the breath test. The test result was 0.163. I found out that Lemus had previously been convicted of impaired driving in Rutherford County after being arrested on 4/25/2019. Lemus’s license was also revoked with an alcohol ignition interlock restriction. Lemus did not have an ignition interlock device in the vehicle. GPD complaint n ° 21-34821.
