New parking restrictions arrive at the Parc du Festival

Supermarket giant Morrisons is about to impose parking restrictions at its Festival Park store.

Morrisons parking lot currently has no restrictions for motorists.

But there is a four-hour parking restriction on the rest of Festival Park, and Morrisons has lost some of its parking spots to Starbucks’ new drive-thru and construction work underway for its extension.

Morrisons today declined to comment on the planned change to its parking rules.

But StokeonTrentLive has been told that a three-hour deadline should be imposed.

It is understood that it is set up to try to ensure that every customer can always get a parking space.

Now Morrisons customers say three hours is more than enough time to shop.

Jeff Skelding, 71, of Smallthorne, said: “Three hours is a lot of time. We are an hour at most. There is plenty of time for people to shop.

Dale Whitehurst, 41, of Chell, said: “You shouldn’t need more than three hours to go shopping. It should be more than enough.”

Ehtsham Asif, 50, of Shelton, said: “It’s fair. It’s more than enough for shopping.”

Paul Powell, 64, from Milton, added: “We came here because Sainsbury’s is closing in Hanley. I don’t think that’s a problem. Three hours is a lot for everyone.”
