Parking at courthouse a problem for visitors with disabilities | Letters to the Editor
Last month my wife and I made our first trip to Kentucky. Since our retirement, we have become amateur genealogists. We came to Somerset looking for information on my wife’s great-grandfather, who we believe was born in Pulaski County and died in WWI, France.
Our search led us to the Pulaski County Courthouse, hoping to search for property records. My wife and I have mobility issues and have a disabled parking license plate. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find parking space in the courthouse parking lot and walked around, until we could find a spot in front of your newspaper office, but walk to the courthouse justice was a challenge for both of us. ~
Speaking with a lady at the courthouse, who was very nice and apologized for our inconvenience, she stated that parking has always been a problem and that she needs to get to work early, so she doesn’t have to be park too far away.
It is a shame that access to the courthouse is such a problem.
We found Pulaski County, with Cumberland Lake to be a very attractive location, but can’t believe there isn’t a better option for parking at the courthouse.
I hope you will publish this letter in your newspaper to raise concerns about the lack of parking at the Pulaski County Courthouse.
