Next generation PARKPLUS robotic AGV technology provides automated parking for Brickell House in Miami.
Situated in Miami Financial District, Brickell House is well placed in one of Miami most popular areas, minutes from shopping, dining and entertainment, 15 minute drive to South Beach and 30 minute drive to Miami International airport.
Automated robotic parking system
The Brickell House was originally designed with a 420-space 13-storey automated parking system. The building was built in 2014 and refurbished September 2015 by a supplier who has failed to provide an effective parking system. In November 2015, the parking system was closed due to major problems with the system. Since then, the building has developed alternative plans for the parking of residents and visitors up to the recent award from PARKPLUS for the modernization of new technology and the provision of a functional system.
Replacement of the automated parking system
Having won the previous parking systems lawsuit, the Brickell House Condominium Association is able to cover the costs of replacing the automated parking system in the short term, preventive maintenance for 15 years and future technological advancements. Brickell House spent time carefully researching a solution, using a 3rd party consultant, Kingfisher Technical Solutions (KTS).
KTS is an independent consulting firm with extensive expertise in all aspects of automated parking systems and project management, Managing Director Colin Barksby has over 20 years of industry experience and has worked on automated robotic parking projects all over the world. KTS has been contracted by Brickell House to handle a tender for the design, installation and ongoing maintenance of a replacement automated parking system. The tender focused on key business and technical deliverables, and the best overall parking solution for the building.
Yaidyt Hernandez of Brickell House Condominium Association said: “We looked at the market experience, the type of technology and the capacity offering. We didn’t want any structural changes, with capacity similar to the original garage and reasonable long-term costs. “
PARKPLUS high density parking systems
PARKPLUS has more than 50 years of experience in parking automation, with the most successful projects and the widest range of products, in United States; including automated robotic parking solutions, auto-park stacking and manually operated multi-level stacked parking systems. The PARKPLUS Automated Guided Vehicle Parking (AGV) system can meet the project requirements without structural changes, and using the vehicle lifts of the existing system, with some modifications.
“We are very happy to work with PARKPLUS. Working with them has been great, they have been accommodating and have the best interests of the building in mind. We are delighted to give residents parking and to be the building that we are meant to be, ”says Yaidyt of Brickell House.
Just 30 minutes from Brickell House, the PARKPLUS office is a 15,000 square foot facility in Dania Beach. The office employs a full service team and has installed dozens of projects across the region, including Muse Rack & Rail and Paramount AGV, two global flagship projects for automated parking systems.
It is estimated that the project will take up to 77 weeks once permits and city approval are in place. The automated parking system will provide 411 parking spaces with 80 spaces for electric vehicle charges. As the parking system is introduced to residents and users, there will be valet parking, with staff ready to help in parking and loading areas. This will eventually switch to self parking.
Removing an existing APS and installing a new one in an occupied building presents different challenges than a new construction, which is why KTS, Brickell House and PARKPLUS have placed a lot of emphasis on logistics planning in order to maintain a minimum level of disruption for residents. , while ensuring an efficient schedule for returning the car park to them. KTS will continue to work with Brickell House and PARKPLUS throughout the life of the project, managing off-site testing, on-site commissioning, and on-site acceptance and inspection testing.
PARKPLUS Automatic Guided Vehicle (AGV)
The PARKPLUS AGV automated parking system consists of free roaming, self-charging, omnidirectional robots using traffic management software, markers, vision systems and lasers for self-guidance to manage storage and retrieval automated vehicles on platforms. The AGV offers maximum parking efficiency, with flexible floor plan configuration and intelligent traffic management software. The AGV system is EV compatible and remotely monitored 24/7. This project will include next-generation PARKPLUS AGVs, the world’s only inductively charging parking AGVs.
The PARKPLUS manufacturing plant produces the PARKPLUS AGV automated parking system. Designed in-house by professional engineers, the PARKPLUS AGV has several worldwide patents. The unique design revolutionized high-density vehicle storage and retrieval systems, transformed the parking experience, and provided efficient, sustainable and cost-effective parking solutions for numerous projects in the United States.
The Brickell House parking system will have an integrated smartphone app to manage vehicle storage and retrieval, with “queue position” and “vehicle ready” push notifications to users. Residents will be able to issue visitor passes via the application and the integration of electric vehicles will make it possible to manage the charging of electric vehicles. As autonomous vehicle technology continues to advance, the PARKPLUS system is activated for future autonomous vehicle integration.
Paul bates, Said the President of PARKPLUS Group, “We are very excited about the project, proud to be involved and to solve an industry problem. It means a lot to us to be able to straighten out this project. The parking lot failure original from Brickell House The system has hurt the APS industry, flipping this project will restore confidence in AGVs and automated parking systems in general. PARKPLUS has a phenomenal solution that will show the world that AGV is a parking solution viable with enormous versatility, allowing us with minimal modifications to the existing garage. “
PARKPLUS continues to dominate the automated parking systems industry, especially in AGVs. Brickell House will receive the latest technologies in the industry, including inductive charging for AGVs, integration of electric vehicles and preparation of autonomous vehicles. “
Automated robotic parking systems are here to stay and while we have completed many automated projects already, we believe this is just the start of widespread adoption in United States. PARKPLUS has successfully found several international partners for the resale and support of automated parking systems around the world, while continuing to develop our capabilities and drive technology and innovation. “
