Car enthusiasts attend the Sanford Rising Car Show on Friday May 20, 2022 at Porte Park.

Katy was born and raised in Flint, Michigan. After attending the University of Michigan-Flint and Central Michigan University, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Photojournalism. Prior to being hired at the Midland Daily News, she interned at two Michigan newspapers, the Saginaw News and the Ann Arbor News, as well as the Hutchinson News in Kansas.
