Work at Wepre Park to create nearly 100 additional parking spaces
WORK is underway to accommodate nearly 100 additional cars at Wepre Park.
Work at the Flintshire Beauty Site is taking place on land already used as a grass car park during the summer months, but it will provide an additional 95 spaces throughout the year.
The leader has repeatedly reported parking issues around Wepre Park – neighboring residential areas being crowded with parked cars due to his parking lot being filled up quickly.
Affected residents described the problem as a “nightmare” and an “upcoming accident”.
Andy Farrow, Flintshire Council’s director of planning, environment and economics, said: “Work on the Wepre Park car park will provide 95 spaces, but these are not ‘extra’ spaces as the area has already been used as an area overflow parking during the summer months.
“However, overflow parking lots cannot accommodate cars during the wetter winter, spring and fall months. As we now see a higher number of visitors throughout the year, work in progress once completed will increase parking capacity year round.
“We expect the work to be completed by mid-July.”
